Christmas Beckons

It's officially December and that means decorations, chocolate, and lots of present shopping! The last two days I have spent trying to brainstorm everyone's gifts, decorating the flat, and SHOPPING! Today's outfit was inspired by a Sunday Church day mixed with a long shopping afternoon. The early day/church time outfit I paired with kitten heals, while the afternoon/shopping portion of the day I wore flats in order to be comfortable.
Jacket: H&M
Dress: Anthropologie (all time favourite store)
Kitten Heals: Macy's
Flats: H&M
Gloves: Accessorize
Earrings: H&M
Headband: A combination of Claire's with H&M flowers attached

A Bit of Pixie Dust

So I have started to feel a bit insecure about my decision to cut all my hair off. I always had options with my long hair and now I feel I look the same everyday. Also a lot of people have expressed that they preferred my long hair. So all of that combined has made me rethink keeping my hair short. If I do decide to grow it out it will only be to my shoulders because I definitely don't want my hair as long as before. I did get a bit of inspiration from googling different ways to style pixie cuts. I am an absolute fan of everything vintage, retro, and 1940-1950's so when I saw a way to make my pixie cut a little more vintage I gave it a go. All it really is is curling the front fringe back. I am more pleased with my hair than I have been in a while just from this little change!

Also...

Since I love fashion so much I have decided to start posting different outfits on my blog as well. Todays outfit was inspired by me going shopping for some Christmas gifts and wanting to be comfortable, but still look feminine and cute!

The Best Gift Ever!

My husband surprised me with this a couple of weeks ago! It made my day. Now I can officially learn to play the violin and hopefully one day be able to do this...

Nail Polish

I am not one who normally does my nails because it seems to take so much time to do, but no time at all to come off! That is until I found my favorite nail polish. Essie is an inexpensive brand that seems to stay on better than the other brands I have tried. It also has a wide range of colors with different colors for different seasons! What more could a girl want?

Essie

In the photo above I am wearing Essie's "Turquoise & Caicos." In the online photo it looks a bit greener than it does in real life, but I would say it has more of a sea-foam tint.

Nicole by OPI

Fitting in with current trends I decided to make one nail different than the rest. I used Nicole by OPI's "Rainbow in the S-kylie." I thought a bit of glitter makes it more of a party :)

Geek Out

The Legend of Zelda

1.2.3.4

The Legend of Zelda is my all time favorite game franchise so of course I am unleashing my inner nerd and showing off some of my favorite zelda merchandise!
1. A lovely girl by the name of Ashley sells these AMAZING skirts that let almost anyone embrace their inner nerd while still being cute
2. I just loved this iPhone case which shows link holding the apple symbol above his head just like in the old nintendo and gameboy versions
3. Another iPhone case that not only expresses my love for Link, but also shares a bit of gamer humor
4. Last but not least a lady by the name of Susan custom made this link yarn doll. It is the cutest one I have found yet!

Cinemagraphs

MY NEW OBSESSION
I have known all along about .gif images, but I have never seen them done like this before. The idea of cinemagraphs was created by Kevin Burg and Jamie Beck and is the concept of creating an "image that contains within itself a living moment that allows a glimpse of time to be experienced and preserved endlessly." My nerdy side instantly thought of Harry Potter and how we are just one step closer to moving photographs! So here are a few of my favorite cinemagraphs all taken from Kevin Burg and Jamie Beck.

As much as I would like to sit around all day blogging and finding pointless ways to fill my time, I have decided that I should use my time as productively as possible. So after some praying and introspective thinking I realized there are a few things in my life I have always wanted to learn or do, but never had the time to. So since my husband is working extremely hard, I now have the chance to take advantage of some of those passions and learn a few new things. Here are the three things that are next for me at this point in my life.
1. 2. 3

Violin

My husband, Calum and I went to a place right down the road from us called Vintage Strings that sells violins. We are planning on purchasing one for my Christmas present! I cannot wait to start learning the violin -I do feel sorry for my neighbors though ;)!

Equine-Therapy

Today I went to a Riding Ability Center in Dundee called The Brae. It is an amazing organization that uses equine-therapy to help people with disabilities. I have always been interested in this field since I started studying social work and cannot wait to start volunteering there next week!

French

Calum and I both want to start learning french because we feel like knowing another language is extremely beneficial and we eventually want to work in Africa where a lot of the natives speak french.

So many new things to explore and learn! Hopefully by the end of the year I'll be a violin playing, volunteering, french speaking pro :)!

Express Yourself

Since getting married, moving to Scotland, and having a bunch of new beginnings I figured why not change EVERYTHING all at once! For the past two/three years of my life I have been growing my hair out for the wedding. I think I went a bit overboard and let it get too long. Here is a picture of what it was like before the wedding.

Hair Before

I was sick of finding my hair all over the place and having to deal with it everyday so I sought out inspiration on the internet and stumbled upon a gem! A lovely blog that a girl named Becki created called Whippycake. She is ADORABLE and creates the best hair accessories. I have yet to purchase any, but plan on doing so in the very near future. Here is Becki's lovely hair

Becki's Hair

After watching a few of her tutorials on styling pixie cuts I decided to bite the bullet and just go for it. Everything else in my life had gone through such a huge change so why not my hair! Since I just moved to Dundee I did not know of any good hair stylists, but luckily there happened to be one just down the street from me called McIntyres which has an exceptional reputation. After getting the a okay from my husband (he was quite keen for me to go short) I made the appointment and here is the final result.

Hair After

Although I was terrified I am now in love with my new hair! So what I learned was don't be afraid to take chances. Sometimes it can be an epic failure, but I would never have known if I didn't try! Plus hair always grows back :)

In The Beginning...

Hello and Welcome! This is one of my many attempts at starting a blog. I have always had a passion for it, but either the timing was wrong or the inspiration was lacking. I recently got married to the love of my life who happens to be a Scottish lad. I myself am from the good old US of A. Love prevailed and I left my home to create a new one in the beautiful land of Scotland. Calum (the husband) and myself just recently moved to a little flat and are starting the process of making a building into a home. I love all things shabby chic and since I have the perfect blank canvas with a new home I finally have the inspiration I need to create a blog. I will be sharing my ideas, inspirations, DIY projects, and whatever else I fancy at the moment on this little blog! So I hope you enjoy and please do stay a while! x

Here are some pictures of our wedding!!!
